Guide For Metal Vs. Wood Electric Gates
We may categorize the electric gates based on their materials into two broad categories: wooden electric gates and metal electric gates. Let us consider their advantages and disadvantages.
Wood Electric Gates
A wooden gate gives a regal appearance to a property. Seasoned timber gates last long and curved wood gates really impart an aesthetic value. Solid wood gates do not allow anything inside to be seen from outside. Wooden gates fit well to your budget and are not hard to install. However, wood being organic has certain disadvantages. Wood absorbs moisture and decay subsequently due to that. Your automation fixed to the gates will face difficulty to work if the wood warps at the hinges. Wooden gates up to a certain height and width are efficient, but huge gates need metal braces as support. Wooden gates are high maintenance structures especially after the initial years.
Metal Electric Gates
Metal gates are highly durable. They are least susceptible to weather conditions such as heat and humidity; therefore, their lifespan is long. Metal gates are stronger compared to wood when larger span is considered. You may impart a beauty touch to your gates by adding curved wrought iron. However, you have to consider the high cost. Aluminum gates, steel gates and iron gates are the main types of metal gates. Though aluminum gates are cheaper, they are behind in popularity compared to wrought iron gates.
